You are cordially invited to join the Central Ohio Chapter of IFMA for an introduction to and a tour of The Point at Otterbein University on Wednesday, January 14, 2025 from 3-5 at 60 Collegeview Road, Westerville, OH 43081.

We will start with a conversation about the space and how it is used, then split into 2 groups of 15. This event will be capped at 30, so register early.

Long pants and closed toe shoes are preferred.

The Point is a 61,000 sq ft innovation and maker-space facility on Otterbein’s campus.

It combines academic, entrepreneurial, and community functions: it supports Otterbein’s Engineering, Computer Science & Physics department, and also hosts businesses, startups, and co-working members. 

It’s designed for hands-on, experiential learning: there are maker labs (3D printers, CNC router, laser cutter, etc.), a metal shop, wood shop, electronics, rapid prototyping, plus classrooms. 
The space also has event rooms, office/co-working space, and a café. 

Students: For coursework, research, internships, and building projects. 
Community / Entrepreneurs: Local makers, entrepreneurs, and businesses can become members to use the labs, offices, and networking opportunities.

Corporate / Non-profit: Resident companies include innovation-oriented firms. For example, OFIC (Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges) has an office there. 

It’s meant to be a “catalyst for opportunity, learning & prosperity” — to bring together education, industry, and community under one roof. 
The Point supports Otterbein’s goal of experiential learning: giving students real-world, hands-on experiences in designing and building things. 
It’s also a regional innovation hub — meant to foster collaboration between academia and local business.
